The Local Government Commission is inviting submissions on the proposed change in the boundary between Western Bay of Plenty District and Tauranga City at Tauriko West.
The proposed change was applied for to the Commission by Western Bay of Plenty District Council in 2018.
The Commission considered the change appropriate but is inviting the community to have input before it makes any final decisions.
Details of the proposal are available on the Local Government Commission’s website and on the websites of the Western Bay of Plenty District and Tauranga City councils. Hard copies are at both councils and at public libraries.
The proposal is for 189 hectares at Tauriko West, currently within the Western Bay District, to become part of the city and be available for residential development in the medium to long term.
